History
Oriola has more than 100 years of experience in the pharmaceutical wholesale markets in Finland, Sweden, Russia and the Baltic countries. The wholesale operations in Sweden were started already in 1907 and the Finnish Oriola Oy was founded in 1948. The Baltic wholesale operations were started in the 90’s and the Russian wholesale operations started in 1996. Oriola has gone through major changes to become a one strong Oriola wholesale brand.

1994
|
SIA Oriola Riga was established as a company and registered in the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia.

1995
|
The licence for pharmaceutical activities was received, the first warehouse was opened and SIA Oriola Riga started its sales, distribution and logistic operations as a wholesale company.

| 2000 |
The company has grown rapidly over the years. Further development required broader and more modern facilities. A new and modern warehouse with offices was built in 120 M Dzelzavas Street, Riga, meeting the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements.

2006
|
SIA Oriola Riga became a part of Oriola-KD after the demerger of Orion Group. Orion acquired the majority holding in Kronans Droghandel AB, Sweden’s second-largest pharmaceuticals distributor. Operations of both companies were combined.

| 2007 |
Consumer Health business unit was established to focus on sales and marketing of certain over-the-counter products. Product categories include vitamins, food supplements, pharmacy cosmetics, skincare products and other healthcare products.

2008
|
Oriola-KD and Lifco AB created a joint company and 70 percent of Oriola-KD’s dental business was sold to Lifco. In Latvia the dental business unit was transferred to SIA Sirowa DAB company.

2010
|
The Healthcare Trade business was sold to Mediq N.V. SIA Oriola Riga concentrated on development of pharmaceutical distribution and Consumer Health business.

Today the company focuses on pharmaceutical wholesale, warehouse, logistic services and marketing of consumer health products in accordance with its strategy.
